Hand sewn in Ghana from recycled flour sacks sourced in Ghana; a soft cotton dress with a lightweight feel. Fully lined dress. This dress has been a best seller for over seven years and is made from recycled flour sacks because this is a sustainable fabric that can be sourced in Ghana. Each dress is hand cut and hand sewn that is why it is more expensive than your average factory made dress.

This dress is made entirely out of recycled flour sacks purchased from local markets in Ghana. The faded label of the sack is on the front and back of the skirt.

This dress has a very hourglass fit and the fabric has no stretch, so make sure to take your measurements and compare to those below. Your waist or bust measurement should be smaller than those listed below or the dress will be too small.
Please note there may be small imperfections because of this dresses previous life as a flour sack.

Care Instructions
Machine wash in cold water on gentle cycle. Line dry or lay flat to dry. No bleach. Iron on medium heat when needed. Softens with wear. Wash alone because the dye is possible to blead slightly.

I like the style of this dress but even with ordering after taking my measurements it's still at least 2 sizes too small and I'm not large busted. Also would fit better on someone who is petite. Additionally while it appears nicely made there were lots of loose threads around the button holes and some holes were sewn too tightly so getting it buttoned by yourself would be impossible.

I loved this dress the moment I saw it online and was thrilled to order it. Upon arrival I loved it still. The craftmanship is excellent and the open ladder style back and all those assorted buttons are divine. I gave a 4 star because I was disappointed to realize that, although of great quality, the fabric isn't really recycled flour sack fabric it seems. Besides there being no imprinted design on the fabric (I realized that there would be fabric that didn't have the printing) the fabric was "stiffer" like a newer fabric would be. It has drape so it isn't stiff per se but certainly has never been used prior to this dress.
I must say that the next time I order (and I absolutely will as I love it) I will definitely be leaving a 5 star review now that I am aware that the dresses are not all made from truly recycled fabric. The quality of the fabric and work is wonderful and the design is just too cute to simply have one!
